MATCH 2 Evergreen United 4-0 Gumby

We played our second league match today, which is againts Gumby, which a team comprises of Chinese, but most probably Aussie-born-Chinese, as they all communicate and uses Aussie English.....

We started out our game moderately, with possessions mostly held firm by Gumby, but still, good defending and poor finishing with the ball didn't see Gumby attack or even pose a threat much. That is until we scored a goal with a long pass well into the defense's back line, unleashed a speeding Frank onto the path of it, with 2 Defenders on he's tail, all is too late as he pounded in our first goal of the season yet. After the first goal we started to get more confidence and started to play the game we use to play, and not before first half finished, 老崔 our player-cum-coach managed to scored for him self following an assists from first goal-scorer, Frank, and went flying up to celebrate it.

Second half started, and immediately we posed a menacing start, straight with some fabulous passes in the middle before sending the ball on the path of our Right Winger, 小周. Gumby posed a few threats earlier on in the first half with 2 free kicks but to no avail, and weren't short for the second half as well, more and more wide and long passes were done by them and they managed to win a few corners as well, but due to poor connecting and heading skill, no goal was produced. And then, with a partnership of Ryan and 老崔, the latter managed to score another goal ! Morale was damn up high that time, and just before finish, Henry, who was our Right Back for today, managed to score a goal back following an assist from 老崔. The game ended with a big success.

Gumby's team was a ordinary team, nothing special bout them. They have good body and basic skill overall, with their passing and stopping rarely fail, but slow in speed and poor finishing made up their day as that contributes to no goal. But overall we were abit lucky as well, as they've could have scored us a few goals, should they have better finishing and anticipation. The defender played very well today, but the midfield should have done better with possession and playmaking. That is one point for us to improve, but other than that, the team's morale and teamwork is advancing thoroughly. With a couple more games we should have a firm grasp of a good First-11 and the right strategy on how we should play.

Numbers of minute un-scored: 140 (70 for me, as its a 35/35 minute game, opposed to 45/45)
